John Ray, M.D.
Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Spine Surgeon

Dr. Ray is a fellowship-trained, board-certified spine surgeon at New Mexico Spine. He maintains a demanding surgical practice specializing in the treatment of complex neck and back problems. His primary interest is in complex deformities and degenerative changes of the cervical spine. He routinely performs surgery to relieve the pain associated with disc herniations, stenosis, degenerative changes, deformities and spinal tumors in the neck and back.

Dr. Ray completed his spine fellowship at the University of California at Davis, a very busy spinal trauma and deformity center. He completed his residency and surgery internship at the University of Utah. He has an extensive technical background. Prior to entering medicine, he was an engineer active in the design and optimization of high performance electro-mechanical devices. He holds degrees from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University in California.

Away from the office, Dr. Ray is active in the outdoors and with his family. He enjoys mountain running and competes in races ranging from 3 to 100 miles.
